A letter from Pastor Roger:

Thank you so very much for supporting our Mission Partner Team to Los Amates. The team has planned and prepared well, hoping to leave on October 13. Regrettably, we will not be able to travel to Guatemala due to civil unrest in Guatemala City. The streets are filled with protesters blocking traffic, which makes traveling from Guatemala City to Los Amates difficult and potentially dangerous. These protests are fueled by accusations that the Attorney General has tried to prevent President-elect Bernardo Arévalo from taking office in January. Arevalo is widely popular in part because of his strong stance against corruption in government.

We must be safe and follow the suggestions of Children’s HopeChest. Soon we will discuss when we might reschedule the trip.

If you made a financial donation to support someone traveling on the trip, your support will carry forward to their next trip. If your team member isn’t able to attend a replacement trip, we will notify you.

The purpose of this trip was to build relationships with our CarePoint leaders and assist them in building relationships with their extremely impoverished neighbors. We are understanding more about the difficult situations that create the loop of poverty. Government corruption is one of many challenges. At the heart of hope is the new life we have in Jesus that brings courage to face these many challenges. Thanks for your support.

Pastor Roger

About the Trip
Our family mission trip invites adults and families with an older child to form a team that will spend four days in partnership service in our CarePoint in Los Amates, Guatemala. Our activities will be customized to highlight the unique gifts of our team members. The traditional mission trip mindset of doing something for a host site has now become more partnering with the host site. We work together to bring transformation to the community. This includes working with leaders to bring holistic development including economics, nutrition, healthcare, and discipleship to the families of Los Amates. We work together on a CarePoint plan that takes 12 years to implement, but brings lasting transformation to this community.

Supporting The Trip
We hope to help break the cycle of poverty. Our CarePoint is financed largely by families of King of Kings who have sponsored 124 children and their families. Our partner trip is an important part of that plan. We hope to reschedule our support trip sometime in the near future. We are waiting on word from our partner, Children's HopeChest, to learn how we can continue to support Los Amates during this difficult time, as we have learned that some smaller villages, such as Los Amates, are struggling to get food and other necessities with the shutdown of goods in and out of Guatemala City. We continue to pray for our sponsor families and the people of Guatemala as we wait to hear how we can best continue to support our CarePoint.

If you would like to make a donation to support our CarePoint, donations can be made to the trip on this page. You may also contact us at [email protected] to make donations for our partnership at any time.
