Cambodia Mission Trip-January 22-29, 2024 (Around the World Part 1)

Recap. This is part one of our mission trip around the world. We begin in Cambodia. Garuna Ministries, (which translates to Grace and Mercy), is an organization assisting the newly formed Lutheran Church of Cambodia to build and equip Christian schools in Cambodia. These school buildings become community centers for the entire village and host the beginning of a new church. Ten Lutheran churches and the Concordia Schools from Omaha have partnered together with Garuna and the Cambodian Lutheran Church to build and staff a school in Prey Veng, Cambodia. The school opened this fall with 225 students and already a church is meeting there, welcomed in a village that is 95% Buddhist. Our Mission Team from Omaha will be there for an official dedication. We will develop relationships in person with students, teachers and pastors. We have so much to learn and much to share in our partnership. Our partnership will continue through the years as we work together to bring holistic growth to the entire village. (The following video might help. Watch 3 Minute Video of Our Amazing Story!>> The team also visits the LISA training center in Phnom Penh. Our partnership helped fund this recent construction. LISA (Luther Institute of Southeast Asia) is where Cambodian pastors, teachers, and deaconesses are trained. Our team shares ministry ideas and perspectives with the current class, then we travel to Siem Reap to witness another school dedication. This concludes the first part of the mission trip. The team divides as one group goes to Thailand and the other heads off to Vietnam and India. 

The purpose of this Mission Trip is:
* Build relationships between Cambodia leaders, Garuna Ministries and our sponsoring Omaha-area churches.
* Collaborate how we best might work together to empower the village at Prey Veng and church leaders in Cambodia.
* Share this story of our partnership in the gospel with others in our churches and around the USA.
